Done with the proddy stuff for now. Time to get naked...

No pics of dropping the front end. Luckily there is a eye hook in the ceiling beam so we just put a strap on and then lowered the lift table. Them it was just wiggling the front end off. Helped tremendously to have an extra set of hands!

Should feel distinctly freer and I love my sky hooks. Don't need lift tie downs when lowered most the way down. Handy to spin bike to check both sides while seated.

Why not time for a change.. If you got the wardrobe and makeup and a few spanners good onya.. Nothing is forever..

Nice Job! It's one of the great things about the Commando - the ability to change the clothes and makeup relatively easily for a new look.
Occasionally I think of going from BRG Fastback back to black Roadster (Bike was originally a roadster) for a while. Only thing that really stops me is the puny volume of the Roadster tank! :)

But I have been seriously thinking of a red roadster...as was my original '71 Commando back in the day.

Now your talking. Red roadster and you won't want to change again :)

Hard to argue with that! Three of my bikes plus my car are red. I should just paint the rest of them red and be done with it. 8)

I really like the proddy racer look. When I get some more money I might try to buy a decent basic Mk2A 850 and do that. They look like a real motorcycle should.

The headlight light clip is being repaired. The little nut came off the last time and I JB Welded it back on, but it came off again. So out came the JB Weld again. Sad thing is that it's $3 part. I should probably place an order for one soon...

Brake bleed and now just trying to get the air out. Lever pinned back. Let's hope that does it.

Local vintage show tomorrow. We'll see if she makes it!

Rev it up and take it as it is.... rat bike, unfinished whatever takes your fancy... Unless you got $20k to appease the rivet counters and smoke police.... IMO its about enjoying what you have and the rest can go down the road...

A bit tongue in cheek, but Sammy Haggar said it

Gimme Red!Red! I want red, there's no substitute for red.
Red!Red! Paint it red, green ain't mean compared to red.
You don't know what it does to me,
My crimson sin intensity
I'm haunted by the mystery,
The mystery of red.
Red knocks 'em dead,
Some like it hot, I like it red.
Red is my lover, got it covered
Red is my number, sure as a coma

How about that, Dave, an unsolicited pole. I wasn't going to say anything but the masses have indubitably have taken a stance.

That being said, a rat rod with a Dreer motor is kinda cool.

Classic Canary YELLOW does it for me!
Gonna get my black beauty a new paint job this winter.
Dave - where you get that front fender and tail light housing?

Tom, I'm pretty sure you can get them from Old Britts + Fair Spares. Lookup JPN front fender.
I bought a JPN front fender from Burton Bike Bits for my `71 Interback but the shipping across the pond was dear...

I believe the tail light and fender came from Walridge a long time ago. They are Proddy not JPN.

I was not able to get a Norvil tail light fairing anymore. I tried Mick Hemmings and they said they aren't being made any more. I can't remember if I tried Les or not.

A "Norvil" (or, more accurately, Production Racer) tail light fairing is nothing but a chopped 750 type tail light fairing, part# 06-1122, readily available from all good Norton stockists. Saw the front part off at the relevant spot and paint yellow.

The Norvil item has a yellow gel coat and the reflector holes in the sides are not drilled. You do have to shorten them.

Sorry, true- the reflector holes are drilled on our new 06-1122s.
My original 1970 Production Racer has a painted taillight fairing, however.
