I've just learned that one of our listers in Sweden, Peter Lindberg, recently passed away. Peter didn't post much, but was a serious Commando fan and an avid reader on the forum. Peter succumbed to a pancreas inflammation the day before Christmas. Peter had bought a few Commando bits from me, and last year we managed to meet while he was on a business trip to Southern California. He was a genuinely nice guy, and loved talking Nortons. He had a beautiful Commando that he lavished care on, and plans to convert it to electric start, using some Kenny Dreer parts he bought from me while he was here. His wife , Camilla, is distraught at the loss, and he also leaves behind a 13 year old daughter that he adored.

Camilla sent me these pictures of his bike, which she now needs to sell. I offered to post them here, in case there was anyone who might be interested within driving distance of Kristinehamn Sweden.

Our enjoyment of these relics from a past that has been lost for 40 years seems insignificant when compared to the loss of a compatriot who shared with us that pleasure. For those who loved and have lost Peter I wish to tell them I feel some small part of their pain and hope with time they can remember his liking for an old British motorcycle as part of what made him special.

This hurts just reading it, never had the pleasure of meeting Peter, but sounds like a great guy. What a tragic loss for his wife and daughter. They will no doubt see Christmas time differently for the rest of their lives. May they find peace in his memory and happiness again at some point in the future.

I too would like to offer my condolences to Mrs. Lindberg and loved ones. Peter made a very fine looking Norton that I think anyone of us would be proud to own and enjoy riding as much as he must have done. Cj

Yes, my condolences to the family. They have a rough road for a while. Godspeed, Peter.

Looking at the modifications and improvements made to that bike, it is obvious that Peter was a real thinker.
I hope he got to enjoy the bike, it is beautiful.
