Hi all,

My Mk1 CR is due for it’s second service after one year of ownership (5500 km travelled). I was looking at the service schedule in the Owners Manual and can see no reference to checking/changing the gearbox oil.

Is the group aware of this and can somebody advise when the gearbox oil should be changed?

Thanks.

When you change oil change them both . Norton recommend every 6000 miles , I say every season or 3000 miles.

Thanks Tony,

Can you recommend the oil that should be used. I remember reading other threads relating to some oils that led to increased engine noise. Want to avoid these.

Appreciate your help.

Steve

I use
Motul 4T 7100 10w40 MA2
For gearbox as Richard-7 and have good experiences with this oil. Before had 20w50 (what I use in the engine) resulting in „jerky“ clutch behaviour...

I was all in favor of 20w50 Amsoil but the jerky clutch returned after 100mls or so. I since did a rebuild and noticed the plates were not evenly coated in oil and there were blotchy areas where there was no oil. When I assembled, I coated the plates liberally in 10w40 Amsoil and used this in the primary & gearbox. 400miles all is fine, clutch never felt better.

I'll be doing mine shortly too so you are recommending same oil for gearbox and engine?
