I am rebuilding a gearbox from a 68 Commando and the kickstart shaft seal dimensions and appearance indicate it is 06-6145, the seal for a Mark III cover (1.44” o.d. x 0.165" thick.) The X ring seal supplied with the Andover rebuild kit is too small. What I’m not sure about is the seal for the shifter. Is this a Mark III cover and should I use the seal for the Mark III cross shaft 06-5183? The o.d. for the cover recess where the seal fits is 0.936”. This would seem to correspond to the dimensions for SKF 6152 though od for that is listed as 1”. Is 06-5183 the Mark III cross shaft seal the same as SKF 6152?
Thanks,
Brendan
