I have ordered gear bushes for my gearbox , Norton Mrk. 2A from Andover .
But gear bush for layshaft 3rd gear , part no. 040047 seems to be special ?
Is there any information for this bush ?

Anything I should know when fitting new bushes to the gears ?
All my bushes have loose fittings in the gear .
Is it adviceable to fit 3 bushes in the main shaft output gear , instead for 2 bushes ?

3rd gear bush 040047 is the same for all Commandos as far as I'm aware and it's the only 3rd gear bush number listed in the parts books.
Can we know the reason why you think there's a difference?

The sleeve gear an bush inside the kickstart shaft are a press fit. The bushes inside the gears should be a free running fit between shaft an gear.

Most recommend the two long bushes inthe sleeve gear as it leaves a small void in between the bushes that holds a little oil to help with lubricating the bushes.

No, the only press fit gear bushes are layshaft 1st. and the sleeve gear.
