23RD ANNUAL GATHERING OF THE NORTONS
WASHINGTON CROSSING HISTORIC PARK
APRIL 17 2016, 10AM TO 1 PM
River Rd, Washington Crossing, PA

Info at www.dvnr.org

It's near my daughter-in-law's baby due date but I'm planning to ride the Dutch Army Matchless 350 to the Gathering this year. I live only about 25 miles away from Washington Crossing and highly recommend making it to this meet. Last year I missed it because of the wedding! :D

Rebuilt forks, new steering head bearings, the brakes may work better - should be like a dream. I'll be snailrider.

Russ

You might spot Philly Skip there, good guy, nice bike (mild custom Commando)

It's a great event in a beautiful area. I always try to get there early to watch all the bike come in. A little over 200 miles round trip for me. I hope the weather breaks soon, we had snow last night and plenty of road salt. I want to get some miles on a my rebuilt gear box before I go.

I hope I can pull this off and ride the Mk3! Need to put the smalls back together, voltage reg, wheels resort "new brakes" my major hearburn but checking this MK3 cam is first before any long ride. Power is not what it should be IMO which concerns me greatly.

Didn't see this posting thread before I posted same event.
Anyway, can't hurt to get the message out again.
Great time , there's everything Norton from a bone stock as delivered commando like mine to a Kenny Dreer VR 880.
A lot of other neat stuff shows up from time to time too.
Weathers sunny and 71.
See you all there.
Marshal

Is there a need to register or anything like that? Or does one just pull up and park in the Norton row? I've been to it before but this will be my first time going since I've owned my Commando.

When you are seen riding in on a Norton you will be directed to the Norton designated parking by one of the marshalls there. No need to register or anything.

The Dutch Army bike is back together and made it around my short loop yesterday so hopefully should be OK for the trip over to Washington Crossing. More shakedown miles (actually it's in kms) today. I will be riding over there with TJKII from this forum who lives a few miles from me in Revere PA.

There is a Norton row and this year they said they will have small orange cones designating the Norton region. Evidently some non-Nortons parked in the Norton row last year and someone wasn't pleased. So there is a designated "enforcer". Actually it is a very informal event. I expect a huge turn-out with the good weather.

Yes it was a great day and a great time. My Matchless didn't miss a beat and was the only one there! The turnout was so big I missed seeing a number of people whose bikes were there. It was too huge to find anybody.

I don't know why the pix above from the DVNR Norton website show almost everything but the 62 Nortons that were there (before they stopped counting). There are other good pix - some on ADVrider and on various blogs that I found by Googling. Did you see the rusty looking lowrider truck with fat whitewalls with the strange creepy stitched "skin" and the green hands holding the mirror and a small tach on the side?

That really turned into a great day. My son and left our house at 7:00 am and it was 37* F, by noon it was over 60*. There was probably over 1,500 bikes there. As always the event was awesome. If there are any members of the DVNR on Access I want to thank them for all the work they put in to this Gathering. Most of them were so busy working I don't even think they had a lot of time to enjoy everything. Can't wait for next year.
This weekend on the 23rd in Oley Pa is the Classic Antique Swap Meet. Nothing like the "Gathering of the Nortons" but it is a nice day out.

Swoosh, I think my son is working on posting some pictures. He is busy at work so it might be a little while. In the mean time here is "The Truck"
Pete
P.S. Sorry about you motor. Wish you the best of luck getting it together.

Apart from formal bike shows where the different classes are grouped together for judging purposes, I believe the separation of brands is a distraction, and takes away from the camaraderie of classic bike enthusiasts.

If it's a single-brand event, that's different. The only designated parking should be "other".

(just one old guy's personal opinion)

Why don't you read the title of the event again and then maybe you'll understand why it's applicable to put the Nortons together.
