gas tank cap - gasket

That's it. My flip cap's gasket is old, split and leaky.

Your comments, recommendations and sources?

Since the metal washer is rivetted on, do you just stretch the new around it? Or, . . .

Yes,
the new gasket will stretch into place and will be more flexible than the old one.
I sourced mine from Clubman.
The leak may continue somewhat as the cap is vented to atmosphere, i.e. the outer tank surface.
