Most the time I've run 15/40 Rotella in lawnmower and Commando and SV50, but times are a changing again...

"In order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and keep up with federal regulations, engine manufacturers may need to lower the viscosity of heavy duty engine oils across the entire trucking industry, according to Shell Rotella". - See more at: http://www.teletrac.com/fleet-managemen ... WPikO.dpuf

All this will mean is that the oils we need to keep our old iron alive will become more and more "specialty" items, simply translated: more expensive and harder to find.

I have an oil cooler on my 63 Atlas....it allows me to use lower viscosity oil. Maybe we will all have to go this route. Besides, it is insurance against overheating.

0W-20!! WoW!! and I thought the 5W-30 used in my 2001 Dodge Caravan was thin. And It's supposed to be good for 6000 miles between changes :?

look up the 20 and below thin oils to find they are trading rather faster engine wear for better mileage numbers. But for a race or gas mileage contest why not. Your call.
