1970 commando's did not have a remote oil filter unless a kit has been installed, 1972 i beleive was the first year a remote filter was used and i have used a ph2839.
If you buy an adapter form CNW or Rocky Point Cycle (both GREAT places to deal with and buy parts from) ... it allows the use of a "whole bunch o' filters !!! I did, and now use a Purolater Pure One PL10241. From all the tests I've read, it is one of the very best filters you can use. Just JBweld the adapter on your filter head assembly, where the disposable filter itself screws on to it; and yer done
Thanks.I found one that works at the local Harley shop, part #63810-80a. It is just marginally smaller than the Crossland filter that I am replacing.

The Fram 3614 will work if you have an adaptor. It's the one I use on my two bikes and it works nicely in my wife's Toyota. Cross reference from there ..........
