I'm about to install progressive springs in the front forks of my 1975 Commando. Any suggestions regarding what fork oil would work best?

Thanks...

About everyone last decade+ that weighs like 200 lb and installed off the shell traditional progressive springs has complained of nose dive on braking and often went back to factory springs so my suggestion is if you are under 200 lb then put in ligher oil like 20 grade and below and if over 200 lb think thicker grades. I like 30 grade or 20/50 in my factory Roadholders and I weigh like 170 suited. On my hobot Peel Roadholders, I like power steering fluid the best but was too thin for factory Trixie forks. Research has been done by our current racers on list like Kenny Commings to find that what's on the label has little relation from one brand to another so on you own to experiment like the rest of us. Add like 175 mm max to help the air spring function but no more or fork action pumps air down to hydro lock after 1/4 mile or so thinking you'd found a good level solution, ugh.

+2 on the soft springing of these springs. I think they list a firm and soft spring? You may need to add some pre load to shore up the front end. Probably best to check your stock sag before removing original springs, and pack up the Progressives to match. Re fork oil, at least 30 wt fork oil or maybe 20/50 motor oil. If you have marginal rebound damping, suspect your damper top caps, and or damper rods being rough.

Good luck
