Have just come back fom the vehicle testing station, need a Warrant of Fitness/Roadworthy, and everything passed except the fact I have no indicators on the bike???
It came via the States to New Zealand in 1998, therefore first registered here at that time. NZ ruling states that 'if the bike was first registered in NZ before Jan 1978, it doesn't need indicators'
Wiring is mostly there, have a set of copy9after market ) stalks and lenses also an electronic flasher unit, switch gear and wiring all there, so just need to know where was the original flasher unit placed on the bike?
Pics would help
thanks and regards Mike

Should've said I was thrown a curve ball as was (mis)informed pre 1974 didn't need indicators, didn't check my info sourse prior to heading to testing station!!!!

The flasher unit was a little rectangular box that clipped into a bracket under the seat - bolted to the vertical sheetmetal bit.
The wiring to it was a white wire(s) and ight green/brown.

If you have an electronic unit, its unlikely to fit the same bracket ?
Locate the wires, and fit wherever...

The original flasher unit would have been above the oil tank but to the left, under the seat, near the rectifier. There might be a sheet metal rectangular doo-hickey on the frame there that would have once held the flasher unit in place. Most modern units will not fit it anyway.

thanks guys, will fit new unit on the vertical web at the end of the main down tube.
Thanks for the wiring info as well.
Regards Mike

I think someone else on this site suggested this electronic unit a while ago as a replacement. I tried it on my '75 and it worked perfectly. It fit right into the old Lucas sheetmetal retainer clip in the headlamp bucket and actually makes the light blink!

It also fits perfectly in the metal clip on the frame under the seat (across from the oil tank) on a '73 /'74. An added benefit is it works perfectly with LED's as signal lamps as well (as long as the polarities are respected.. I converted to negative ground. AND it's fairly cheap at around $4 bucks and change.
