Most of us know of a Norton knowledgeable machinist. I'm in need of a Norton knowledgeable fabricator (welder). At 72 I still have a full head of hair, but if I keep pulling it out, I won't :)

I'm in a struggle with the center stand on a 69S. If it were to keep, I would have already put a later stand on it, but the owner wants to show it. I thought some weld buildup on the stops would fix it and it is improved, but still not acceptable. I can see two ways to fix them. One is cut in four places and make taller and wider. The taller is what I need, but the wider is required to make it taller and would make it more stable. The other way is to cut the "feet" off, extend the tubes 1/2" to 3/4" and put new feet on. Not rocket science, but need the materials and to be a much better welder than I.

Actually, with this figured out, a good fabricator would probably make some money doing it as most have the same problem.

This is a case where I wish AN would have them made better rather than to factory spec.

If you know of someone who sells the 68-70 stands but taller, I would love to know!

Not retired yet, I can barely get my own projects done. (Or I'd take care of this for you)
That would be an easy job for a skilled welder.
Just explain to him in advance, that maintaining aesthetic originality is important.
