My question are about mounting Emgo Dunstall exhaust please.
Where is the center line of the exhaust to fall with respect to the frame/primary cover? Tucked in close to the frame or spaced so that one can remove the primary cover without loosening the exhaust?
and
Trial mounting of the muffler shows that mounting hardware contacts the muffler mounts thus defeating the purpose of the rubber mounts.
Before I get stupid and remove metal I thought it best to run this by the smart guys on the forum. What say you guys? Thanks again!

Have you simply got the silencers pushed on to the pipes too far ?

And is this bracket bent or is it a trick of to camera ?

Exhaust

No trick of the camera, nothing bent. Just a poor photographer. The O.E. passenger foot peg mounting ear and hardware have been removed and will not be reinstalled. The bracket geometry and mounting hole positions remains the same. The Emgo replacement muffler is near identical to the original beat-up Dunstall.
By design of the bolt channel, the muffler has some but little room to move more aft due to the channel that secures the bolt. Any more and the securing bolt will come out of the channel. It's what I get for not going stock. I thank you for your time.

Looks to me like some button head Allen bolts, like the ones cNw sell, fitted without washers if necessary, would give you the clearance you need twixt Z plate and silencer.

Failing that, it looks like it’s time to get the hacksaw out …

Ref the primary, I filed some of my case away coz the exhaust fouled it.

I recently had the same problem on my MK III. I wanted my bike to be perfect until it occurred to me that Nortons were not built with a kid glove. I did my best and called it good.

From what I've read, there is a lot of variation on the headpipes depending on the vendor. On mine, the only complication is removing or installing the primary drain plug. For that I have to pull on the pipe by hand to flex the tube enough for momentary clearance.

Don't forget to check the view from behind to assure equal hight left and right.

Good luck!

Like you said...........stainless steel button head hardware. Over the counter @ Ace Hardware. Hacksaw not required.
Yes, on filing the primary cover for exhaust clearance
Thanks!
