I bought new pea shooter mufflers and a set of exhaust pipes. I thought I ordered pipes without a crossover but they came with. I never liked the crossover. It was my understanding it was only put there to make the bike run quieter.

Question: Should I go ahead and mount them or go back to eBay for different pipes?
Thanks.

PS.....anyone have a good source for NON balanced 850 pipes....from what I can tell in the pictures MKII & 750 pipes have a different flange deal at the motor end of the pipe....

Well I don't know who on fleabay you got them from but I would send them back & call Old Britts or some other reputable place & order a high quality set. The eBay guys can sell things cheaper cuz sometimes the quality is cheaper. I've had two sets from the on line sellers & both cracked inside a year. The 750 & 850 Exhaust nuts are differant but I can't remember witch is long or short.

Fairspares sells a set of unbalanced pipes made specifically for the MK3. I looked not long ago and the price was under 200. I don't know first hand, but think I remember reading that the earlier versions fit, but interfere with the drain plug bolt head on the MK3.

Thanks all....just starting to get my old MKIII on the road after ten years of sitting idle...so I'm sure I'll have more questions.

This seems like a great forum!

Just to clarify, the unbalanced pipes (750 pipes) have a flange that fits the exhaust port and you slide the nuts on from the muffler end. Because you can't slide a nut on from that end on a balanced pipe it has to have a different arrangement, thus the split collet and the shorter finned nut.
