Has anyone tried these mufflers on a '75 Mark 3? Available at Dennis Kirk (local to me so no shipping cost) for $64.99. Here are the specs:
Dunstall-replica mufflers in wide-mouth outlet (27 1/4 in. long); included reducer set fits 1 3/8 in., 1 5/8 in. or 1 1/2 in. pipes

They're nice enough and perform well.

That said, there are BETTER mufflers. And as we all know, if there is something better and you don't use it, you and your bike will probably not be as well-loved as others.

Oh, is it "Don't you dare standing on my shadow"-Day?

I had Dunstalls on my 1969 bitsa - there was not anything inside them which would be suspiscious of being able to actually silence anything. They are a very crude variety of a reflexion damper I'd say. You don't state anything about your current setup but if you have the bean cans you might end up with needing a rejetting.

Have a pair on an 850, for 8 years now. Sound great and no problems. With the stock header pipe, I had to use steel shim sleeves wrapped around the pipe to get a good clamp. I also recommend that once you have them fitted up, never remove them. I take the entire header & muffler off as one complete assembly. This is to prevent misaligment issues with the 2 rubber hangers and stressing the header. Its much easier to remove and refit as one whole item.

this must be somewhat similar to your "deglazing used clutch plates by rubbing them on my concrete floor is good enough" logic?

The bike had Dunstalls on it when new. I still have them but they're rusty and old and the baffle fell out of one.

Jetting should be close enough to adjust with no more than one needle clip position change.

I actually have a Dunstall Norton 810 and replaced the old rusty Dunstalls with these and have no complaint what so ever.

They will fit fine. A little care must be taken with the mounts if you use the Mk3 plates. The sound is OK, but this bike had BUB Conti replicas in its previous iteration and I liked them better. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore .
I recently scored a pair of NOS Bubs and I may swap them out.
