I just came across a short video from emachineshop.com
It shows how you can design parts and have them made on line. The video gives a short tutorial on how its done.
This could be a great resource if you don't have access to a buddy with machine tools.

Much like Proto labs, this is getting common now as they will soon steal business from various engineering firms as they can do small batches quickly instead of months, leaving the exisitng engineering firms to do bulk order and large project prototyping.

It will work for simple projects. But, I doubt if the CAD software is sophisticated enough for complex modeling or surface machining. (I could be wrong)

Example below takes complex CAD capability to program the surface (wire frame) machining, whether it is prototype or mass production

They can take your CAD files directly and they could be as complex as you want.

We do the CAD, CAM, and machine operations. We are not an engineering firm, just a bunch of greasy machinist.

Very, VERY cool !!! Looks like for a "right side shift" Commando electric start

It is actually a unique, new billet, inner primary for pre Mark 3. There are some features in the case that are similar to the Mark 3. The case is being prototyped for Matt at Colorado Norton Works. It will be used on the new electric starter conversion that will be launched at Barber this year.

I just noticed you are in Yulee. I thought I knew all the Norton riders in Northeast Florida (all 7 of them LOL ) The shop is on the north side of Jacksonville near the airport You should come down for a visit.
