Read in the latest issue of Hot Rod magazine that Edelbrock is offering a zinc oil additive for high performance engines. Can be used with any oil. They also also offer multi grade synthetic oils with increased zinc levels. Not sure if this has been covered here, figured people might be interested.

Might be worth while if the off the shelf oil does not have sufficent zinc in it already. Too much is also bad for wear as not enough. Most formulas for our stuff need 1000-1200 ppm zine and phos in the mix. This elements from what's call zinc-phos pads, microscopic beads of metal on top the steel, but only forms when oil is almost boiling water hot, so if not getting hot enough then not much cold starting or metal clashing protection. It get rubbed on running hard so must reform when hot and not under metal clash loads for a period.
