As previously stated watch out for THEWELSHCANADIAN seller on Ebay I see another poor chap had brought the right hand cluster switch and gave feedback similar to mine re the description he got the same reply this is agreat guy not to deal with , once again look out for him and others .Unfortunately some photos or the photographers do not allways reveal the true product maybe we should all ask for multiple photos from all angles what's next on Ebay 3 D images ??. Whats the old saying for every 10 people you get one good one . Iam glad this forum has the good ones Ha!! Dave .

Wish I could remember the guy that sold me a "new tank". Evidently he painted this roadster tank only to change his mind for an interstate tank. Looked really great. Months later, I have the paint removed only to reveal enough body filler for a car door. Don't know how I missed that one . I'm done with EBay.

there are many unscrupulous sellers on ebay, I usually check their feedback before bidding. 100% positive is usually a good sign.

Ebay is like fishing, sometimes you get a good fish...but not all the time.

THIS, and ask the right questions. It's a great resource, but the rules of horse trading still apply, and then some.

I usually use the Ebay Feedback as a guide to separate the good fish from the bad fish. I've seen Ebay sellers with only 2 or 3 Feedback, all Negative, I would consider those not very good fish,

Wow! I guess I've been really lucky then.

In the past year I've bought a lot of stuff via Ebay (U.S.A)....Pretty much all the major lumps and bumps to build another Commando. I think the only thing I've bought, which I wasn't fully happy with was a 'ham-can' oil tank. It's definitely repairable, but just added some grief to get it to where its usable.

That's one nice bridge , probably (been) sold by now... BTW check out the history of the Eiffel Tower in Paris for scrap metal value !

Sometimes you find out something is crap long after the feedback has been left. Glad I'm done with eBay.

I have found ebay to be pretty good, most sellers and buyers are terrified of negative feedback, keeps them in line.
I ve not had such good luck with Amazon.com however. I bought a good Gold Japanese DID Xring 520 chain on Amazon in April. The price was only 43.99 so I thought it was worth buying it just to put on the shelf as a spare. I went to install it two days ago and was surprised to see that inside the box was a black regular old chain, no seals.
Motorcycle Superstore supplied the chain (thru Amazon) so I found their invoice and called them. Since it is over 60 days, they require me to pay shipping. They will refund the money then sell me an xring chain for $109.99. I can buy one for that price at the retail mc shop down the road anytime.
So I called Amazon to complain, since I have the Amazon invoice that shows I bought a DID gold 520 xring chain from them for 43.99 and that is not what they supplied.
They said no problem, it will be taken care of by their A to Z resolution process, all done by email. I promptly received an email which described the problem then an hour later another email from Shiraz in Bangledesh stating he had looked into the problem and since it was more than 14 days since purchase, nothing would be done, complaint is now resolved and closed!

So they mistakenly sent me a chain that is much lower quality than advertised, not what I want and in fact useless to me, but this is my problem because some time has elapsed!

It may fit their rules but it definitely doesnt fit mine, Im done with Amazon and Motorcycle Superstore and have cancelled both accounts. I used to buy quite a bit from both.

Yeah, I've done that as well. That is not opening and checking something right away when I get it. I'll open it months later, and WTF?

I should have thought to shine a flashlight down in that gas tank.? As that's the only way I would have known. Yeah, like I would have thought of that. Ha This too shall pass... Gonna fix up that eBay tank and use it till my new one comes from Evan Wilcox in 8-10 months:( Then I'm gonna sell it on eBay! JK Nice bike collection Glen! Seriously, three Vincent's!!!!

Just to let every one know this dude has changed statas on Ebay ID from thewelshcanadian to 75commando850 still the same operator beware , I informed Ebay as to his very descriptive Emails he has sent me , but as long as they get their comission seems they do not care too much take care and be aware , Norton Dave .

You can still have good luck with ebay just need to use the feedback score . If like this 75commando850 or THEWELSHCANADIAN has bad or now private feedback just say clear of them. Sometime you get burned but you can get burned on general online stores and with them you are blind unless you search online feedback like yahoo or such rating sites to see how they are. At least on ebay you have a chance to hopefully see if the seller is good before you buy most people are so upset they have no problem leaving negitive feedback where outisde ebay the have to find a site to post bad info ebay tags the seller right then .

Now dont get mad or take this wrong im NOT NOT NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!! saying that this seller is good you can tell he is not by his private feedback show he is shady as hell  .Im a seller and have been for many years 100% and always have been so all im trying to say is he's not all of us !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I've been buying and selling on ebay for a good 10 years or so, i've never purchased anything that was a problem except for shipping damage. It comes down to looking at the feedback, reading the description top to bottom, and using the description to decide what kind of person the seller is. If they describe the product in 5 words they're usually not worth your time. If they write a novel you can be sure its what they say it is. between craigslist deals and ebay i've learned how to judge people electronically pretty well.

Don't forget about bad buyers too, the ones that never update the feedback and the ones that are out and out thieves. So far I have been lucky on buying and selling, but I came close to losing a set of Magura control levers along with a quarter turn throttle. I sold those to a guy in Czechoslovakia, he had a good rating, but since it was shipped by mail and they could not track the package, he launched a dispute 3 weeks after I shipped even if I had told him it would take close to 6 weeks to arrive. Fortunately he was honest enough to say he had received my package, he could just have kept his money and my stuff.

yeah for me selling is more dangerous than buying. I will usually only ship inside the US to avoid hassle, i very clearly state it, but multiple times people have used buy it nows and then asked me to ship it outside the country. i had one guy use a buy it now on a $400 item, then after a few days say he couldn't pay for it, because he was trying to get approved for credit through ebay to buy it, and they turned him down...idiots!
