Commando cooperation .
I was wondering how many members here go on line looking for parts overseas on eBay , only to find that the seller does not ship to your country or if they do they kill you on the postal charges. Well if there were members here willing to assist in the collection of these items and forward on post to overseas that could be a way around this,. If any genuine members here on the forum are interested in reciprocal arrangements please PM myself. I realize this would need to be conducted in a proper manner, like to here any one else’s thoughts. I can already here the negative members Oh how could I trust a stranger to send on my parts they could keep them. Just get frustrated when the seller does not want to ship out side the country lost some great bargains this way. Norton Dave

Dave,

Check this link

Try these guys. Gives you a street address in the USA and they forward to your address. Cost effective

Remember, the landed cost (including freight etc) should be less than $1000.00 or you attract GST.

Cheers

I haven't checked the details yet but New Zealand Post has just announced a service (YouShop) which offers a US address for online purchases from the US, and then arranges to forward the item to NZ at NZ postage rates.
Might be worth checking whether other postal services offer something similar?
Other than that sounds like a good idea. I have done something along those lines for my 16H - a gent in the UK was kind enough to do a pre-arranged pick up at an autojumble and then post on. I added some beer money to his costs. :D

join the more active vintage lists like Brit Biker, British Iron or NOC-UK and inquire about shipping and money exchanging arrangements. Ask about how to label parts for better rates and custom pass through. Generally real vintage vendor shops have best shipping so might even check with them in the sellers area.

Hi Dave,
I needed a pair of boots from the US but they wouldn't send to Australia.
So I posted "Boots for Beer" and one gentleman on this site offered to do the deal for me. I'd already organised the deal through another forum, but the offer was there and I appreciate the offer. Thanks again, you know who you are.
That worked well an I've found 99% of motorcyclists are willing to help and are honest and want to help when they can.
Perhaps just stick an add in wanted on this site?

My story, I had a bike enthusiast guy in Chicago shipping me lots of Norton parts to me in the Philippines, parts that US sellers would not ship outside the US, I would have them shipped to my "buddy" in Chicago and he would wait till he had a few big boxes full the forward them on to me by sea freight, worked good for a while
then on the last 10 boxes, about $10,000 worth of parts, he kept hitting me up for the shipping costs, I ended up paying him twice for the shipping costs plus his fee for his troubles, guess what no goods shipped, then I get a letter from him, from a state correctional center in Florida, he got 2 years for some traffic bullshit, apparently, I'm waiting for him to get out in about another year and hope he will forward ny goods on, heres hoping, The best part was that he was married to a Philippine woman and they have this thing called Balikbayan boxes where you can ship stuff very economically to the Philippines from wherever, actually I think its only for personal items,
But yes I think its a good idea for someone in the US who has time on their hands to make a few $ forwarding goods on, a good bizness for the wife or kids even, just readdress and forward the bits on.

madass140,
I returned a too short brake line to you regular snail mail and never heard back if you got it. I wouldn't mind forwarding small items that could go snail mail if it I get the postage cost put in my paypal account. Just let me know if the brake line made it

The last year or two i have been selling off some spares on e-bay and found it easier to just click "Free Shipping": it helps make sales, and all I have to so is start the bidding higher by the amount of the appropriate flat-rate shipping box. i include language in the auction listing that international customers are ONLY charged the actual difference between the domestic flat rate box and the international flat rate box to their particular destination ("International Flat Rate" is a misnomer, because it varies wildly)

Believe it or not, I have even refunded partial shipping to many clients due to the fact that SOMETIMES a home-made box is cheaper than the large flat-rate box!

(plus, e-bay keeps part of the shipping cost, so i like to cut them as short as possible)
