Hi Guys, I am about to tidy up my early [Feb 1969] fastback, I have found the paint code for Grenadier Red from the Norton Owners Club website but am unable to find a code for the Silver that the oil tank and side cover was painted in, can anybody help?
Thanks Al

hello Possum. greetings from across the ditch. gee that sounds like a opening line from Dame Edna.

mate, I got a 70 F/Back. been through this a while ago. lots of debate over grenadier or signal red. I dont think grenadier is correct. from my research signal red seems the correct red. I have compared signal red with some old sales catalogs and it seems to be the one. grenadier seems abit darker red while signal red has just a tinge of orange .
I have traced the signal red to the following code:: Signal Red british standard 381C paint code 537. some paint suppliers cant get the data, but I used Dulux paint. the local supplier had the british standard.

As for the oil tank, I got a color from Auto Pro auto shop.the paint code is an auto pro one. the color is T-UP 350 G platinum silver metallic. PK9010, 9 300749 390105. very nice color with very small metal particles. did not put clear over to get shine. just used a cutting compound and polish. came up very nice indeed.

if your bike is not concourse this is a very close match to the original silver that was on the later fork yokes. this is what i used as a reference starting point.

I cant post photos here, but if you PM me an email address I can send you some photos of my finished results. also the old sales catalogs .
hope this helps
error corrections welcomed

PS Bledisoe Cup in a few weeks. Deans now gone as Wallaby coach. should be a damn fine contest, cant wait to get the cup back.

The Whoe Bike looks pretty good in Silver , with the Orange seat . Very futuristic / 21st Century / space odessey / Aston DB5 James Bond etc . All the Girs thought so . Anyway . Instant Karma . 8)

I thought it was the spring of '69 before any color other than sliver everything came out. It should be possible to spec the color on an early 1968, similar to the 1967 show bikes. Don't put the green "turn signals" on the tank, though!

A question was asked on the stand if the Commando program had been funded by the Irish government. The orange seat cover, the green-globe badges were two of the colors of the Irish flag and the silver was close to the flag's white panel.
