Dzus Fitting Spacer/Grommet? (2019)

Reviving this thread with a follow up question. Is there anything that should hold the fastener shaft in the sleeve/spacer? I can easily mount the spacer onto my '74 850, but if the fastener is not hooked into the sidecover, it will just slide out of the sleeve. Is the shaft held in place somehow?

Mine just falls out without being hooked to the side cover. At least on my rig ('74 Interstate), the Dzus pin needs to drop down completely into the sleeve to be able to get the side panel on/off.

Thanks Nater! That is exactly what I am facing, and I was sure that I was missing some (spring-loaded) assembly for retaining the fastener in the sleeve. Looks like I can save the $20 I would have spent on buying the identical part that I have!

The fastener shouldn't come out of the housing. There's a retainer circlip on the shaft that prevents that.
