I have a Dave Comeau Hitachi starter motor conversion on my Norton which I believe is the 1.4kw variant, on which there are two "o" rings on the body and a rubber sheath on the power feed into the unit. These three items have started to crack and disintegrate on mine and so I would like to replace them.
I don't know where to start looking get these items in the UK except visiting the local bearing shop and trying to match the o rings but they wouldn't have the rubber sheath anyway.
Does anybody have any ideas?
If necessary I would by from Canada / USA etc.
Thanks.

Why not connect with Dyno Dave; I'm sure he has the parts you seek. The, proverbial, one stop shop?? Why go down a rat hole when the Yellow Brick Road is right at your feet?

Did I miss something? If I did I sincerely apologize.

I'm not sure about the sheath but there are kits (and components) to allow you to make your own o-rings
Basically a roll of o-ring material of your desired cross section that you cut to length then super-glue (cyanoacrylate?) the ends together to produce the desired o-ring
I have used this method and found the results satisfactory
Cheers
Rob

Thanks for all of your replies.
I've emailed Dave Comeau, so I'll see if he can help?
If not, I'll be around to the bearing shop. Thanks for the "UV protection" tip.
I recall reading before on here about diy "o" rings. A good idea.

Dave has contacted me this afternoon.
He believes that the o rings on the starters are 1.5mm x 68mm and has advised using E10 spec which apparently means gasoline / petrol resistant. Apparently the starter motors are Nippondenso and not Hitachi as I had believed.
Regarding the rubber fitting that insulates and locates the power lead, Dave doesn't know where to get them as spares.

Many thanks to Dave for his prompt reply to me. It is much appreciated.
