Does anyone know the difference between the two.
Having successfully laced and tensioned and put into use the rear, I'm now doing the front and noticed that the MK3 front used two different lacing patterns. One has the spokes either side of the valve hole as outer spokes and the other pattern has one spoke as inner and the other as outer. I thought this latter pattern was a mistake, but there is actually a late drawing for it, purely for the MK3.
Records suggest that there was only one style of rim used for pre MK3 and MK3, but clearly from threads here this is not the case, both the MC 275 and 288 were used.
I have laced my front rim which is AN (CWC) item exactly as the rim on my MK3, which is spokes either side of valve are inners. This leaves the non disc outer spoke with very little thread to utilise to get the offset.
Yet to try it, If I flip the rim, stamping on rim will be on nearside, and use the later spoke pattern it looks like the wheel will lace up nicely. I can't keep the rim as is, stamping on offside - like original, and use the later spoke pattern as inners will face the wrong way when laced.
This suggests some difference in the rims used on the MK3, any ideas.
