Duke 750 F1 . . . Er . . .

Yes . . Well . . WHO's Idea was It , Anyway . ?

Tamburini said to Cathcart this is where he got the idea for the Ducati frames from. Original design by Peter J. Williams I believe, even though Peter preferred the Monocoque and still does.

Presumeably theres isolastics in there , if the memory is correct . Will dig out some old magazines ,
The Monocoque & Spaceframe both ran their own Isolastics . :D Theres a 75 with mere head frame
and shock mounts attached directly to engine / cradle , to reduce weight further, No Isos .This is
the last works 750 Commando , presumeably the rug was pulled from under it so never raced . ? :?
but I have to get put on disc at the copy shop and coerce a computer literate being to oblige posting.

Re that

As a ladder-style frame, part of the ladder is missing ?!!

Space frames had been around in the car world and aviation world for quite some years. ?
Didn't the race Jag C Types and D Types use them.
And aircraft, and blimps etc, had them for not quite forever.

Ds ( & Es ) were both , tubeular front frame And Monocoque centre section . Cs had the rear axle atached to the rear cabin bulkhead by three links , two tosion sprung .The Four link minus one compensateing for the lack of a limited slip diffrential,

Lotus ( as in the Seven and others ) were more the space frames , though there were combinations there too .
One for Rohan , " Whats a Lotus 40 ? " . . . . . " A Lotus 30 with ten more mistakes "
These excedded Chapmans expectation that if a car disentegrated as it crossed the finish line , it was strong enough . :?

Maserati was renowned for the type 61 ' Birdcage ' aircraft tube type structure . Small dia. Light Weight .

Thats Right , these young upstarts ! My Gripe , with the benefit of Hindsight , is they COULD have put the darn thing INTO PRODUCTION .
The Italians indeed had the inteligance to do so (after a fashion ) the British press had changrd tack and were forever whineing about the Engine
being obsolete and non competetive (against Jap open spec tuned pipe two strokes - Shouldve thrown a supercharger on , as thats effectively
what pipes are ) .ANYWAY , with a ignition cut-out at redline , to stop it prematurely dissentegrateing , and later looking at fuel injection or throwing
the Cosworth lump in it ( Obviously a seperate (from Transmission ) Engine would have facilitated this !  ) they would have benefitted from
the qudos the italians purloined . Mutter Fume etc and the like . However , the industry being in the state it was , objectiveity was subjective to
obsolete manufactureing processes , theyd have us believe . Some people call that ' hand made ' . Suppose it depends whose hands it is .
If you cant sack the malingerers , sabatours or incompetants without the whole lot going on strike ????????????

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjN3PE4ICj0. This may well typify government involvement as far as ' progreess' was concerned in British Industry .

Well said, the Italians also had a different passion for the machines they built, even the workers.
