I would LOVE to transport my Commando to Europe to ride southern France, Spain or Italy. I would be happy just sitting in a small town cafe drinking espresso and posing. It would take much planning, money, time, tools and a like-minded friend so I’m not sure it will ever happen. What is your dream bikation ( I think I made up a new word)? Isle of Man is an easy pick. Continental Divide on a dual sport is a definite pick.

You can save a pile of money by simply coming to Texas in the Winter, Spring or Fall (to avoid the hottest weather).

As fashionable as it is to knock our: 'Septic (sorry... Sceptred) Isle, I was fortunate enough last year as part of my 'slowing toward retirement' to have a part time driving job for our local game dealer. So, days spent on the most rural of backroads to farm or forest all over the South of England, and many a time I mentally noted routes for a summer return on two wheels. So many empty roads and wonderful views and villages, many unspoilt by traffic using the 'new by-pass' or similar. Shame that Covid-19 has put the skids under this years touring, but retirement looms.....
(And the few game-keepers I had direct dealings with seemed quite 'law abiding' :))

I rode and camped Texas on the way cross country on a liter BMW boxer in 1986. My favorite moment was sitting on a curb in Beaumont watching a parade. Great roads, great scenery and wonderful people. You are truly blessed GP.

I like it right where I am at. US 421 the snake, 16 in VA back of the dragon, 58 from damascus Va to 16 and just a short ride to tail of the dragon just to name a few.

I like Scout63's idea! I am fortunate to live about 90 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville NC. Many great rides in the area. However Deals Gap aka The Tail of the Dragon is now a nightmare it is a virtual parade on the weekends and not worth the effort with so many other roads nearby. I have a personal favorite but I prefer not to make it too popular by giving the route on a public forum.

I went to college in Charlottesville, VA, about 20 minutes from the Skyline Drive. I took my freshman student loan check in ‘81 and bought a new Honda 750F. Back then the drive was really not patrolled so I would pick a five mile stretch and just go back and forth as fast as I dared. One early morning a bobcat hopped up on a stone wall and ran next to me for about thirty feet before jumping back into the woods.

I really like Vermont for back road riding. Paved roads are grand and the hard-packed secondary roads are even better for slow sight seeing. My dream is still Europe though.

European alpine passes and Prudhoe Bay are my dreams, and a group of us we due to ride the Road of Bones (Siberia) in July - but that is now on hold until who knows when.

You could always come over and rent a bike, like so many do.
I friend of mine from Virginia comes over every year.
If you ever decide to do it, let me know..

How are the rentals Ludwig? I looked into renting a Triumph in Provence a few years ago but they wanted me to provide my own insurance and my agent couldn’t do it. I will have to look more carefully. My dream is to have one of my own classics over there. To tell the truth, I am a little nervous about the whole prospect. Maybe a tour first.

Spent almost entire week in Asheville in early 2000’s it really is a bikers paradise with really good back roads , lots of hills beautiful scenery and some of the friendliest/nicest people we have met South of Nova Scotia , highly recommend the area as ride destination !

If that was with Classic Bike Esprit in St Remy, The owner is a friend of mine. They have a low mileage Mk3 Commando and various other classic bikes, and are very knowledgable about the area and futher afield, such as the island of Corsica, and the French Alps are within range too!

There's areas of Canada I'd really like to ride, though I'm sure it'll never happen because my long road days have long passed me by. Lots of the stuff here, but Canada has the advantage of no being as full of road fools.

A ride through God's country. Guisborough, Castleton and over Blakey Ridge to Kirbymoorside. Down some back roads, farm tracks then gravel track to the cabin. Cup of coffee in the sun after checking all's ok then back via Pickering, Fylingdales and Whitby. Around 100 miles of twists and turns, hills and sweeping curves. On a 961, what could be better?

Anytime , you make it up here I sure would like to host you for a while and show you around some , think you would enjoy Nova Scotia , don't have to ride long days to see and experience a lot here .... the lobster is worth the trip !

South East Queensland, Australia we have some of the best rides in Aussie land and you don't have to go on to many highways to get to them, I live on the Northside of Brisbane and I can be in the tight twisties in a short 15 minute ride, been riding this area all my life and it amazes me I still find great riding roads I have never been on, the great Divide Range runs right up the East Coast of Australia and I am sure there are many more great rides from Victoria, NSW and Queensland, but I do most of my riding in my state of Queensland.
