Another electrical question.. As my electrical ability is fairly limited to the basics, where possible i use photos for reference and a system i use called "dot to dot". When my dots or marking wear off over time, i have usually get help, so here i am.

The 2 wires coming out of generator are same colour, green and yellow x2 and plugged into what i hopefully think are the right compnaions... Though there are another 2 wires alongside, which are part of the wire harness a Red and a Green. Im not sure what these two wires are for and i did notice a "dot" on the green and there are no other wires close by to accomadate the red and green.. Does anybody know what they are for????

This MK3 has been fitted with a Boyes electronic ignition!!

Those two fellas go to the transmission neutral switch.

OK Thanks, that would make sense being down there.. I had the motor n g/b out in the cradle and dont recall "feed" wire for neutral switch... (thats probably why the neutral light is not happening and didnt work prior the stripping..... Cheers..

You don't need to worry about the wiring of the alternator, you can't go wrong here.
Since the alternator is AC, it does not matter how you connect these wires,
that's why the alternator wires have the same coulor markings.

The alternator wires from the stator are usually one green/yellow [GY], and one white/green [WG].

Had a look for a WG coloured wire from Alternator, as you and the manual indicate. But mine are definately both the same, Green and yellow x 2 .... So, ohh well just one of those anomillies ..

Yep, you are correct, i found the two neutral switch wires lurking in the depths, all good now and the light works for the time being hahahah

Perhaps one or both stator wires have been replaced, as the wires/insulation can break right where they enter the stator?

This one I repaired with JB weld. Luckily, it was only the outer sleeving which had broken, not the actual wiring.

I would however suggest you replace every bullet tube connector on the bike, as the internal tubes often become extremely brittle through age and corrosion.

Here is a MKIII where I traced over the original. I used it as the base for my conversion to negative ground. I will have an upgraded original in Visio soon that I will print and put on the forum hopefully along with a negative ground rendition, hopefully before Christmas. I will have to discuss the release of the negative ground version with “texasSlick”. Robert is the electrical engineer on my MKIII rebuild.
