I'm happy with my shorts opens on my Dominator, BUT I would not mind trying the Magaphones WITH some baffles in place.

I have just found a pair of unused Dominator megaphones on the Bay of E...I've never seen a set come up before, so I'd like to give them a try. I have emailed Norton to see if they can help. I really have no idea if this is something tey can help with or not, but I'd really need those off road bars that the Megaphones mount to, to complete the full Dominator look. I'm fairly sure I could put something together to mount these to the Dominator without the bars...but I really should try and get the right mounting parts if possible.

Has anyone a set for sale or know of a possible source? I'm probably clutching at straws here, but I thought I would ask!

You’ll also need a few other parts as well.
the shift rod.
heel guards.
Hopefully you get the mounts for the megaphones.

bellow are the pieces that came with my Dominator naked. Install is cake and straight forward. But fitting the megs requires some rerouting of the rear master cylinder and disassembly of the pegs. Not hard at all.

Thanks voodooo, Images much appreciated. I might need to make these parts, as I imagine they are pretty thin on the ground!

Norton may have stock of those items, as I'm pretty confident in that I'm thinking the streets used the same mounts etc....without checking one out to refresh my memory. Failing that, I'd recommend getting intouch with Bob at The-Machine-Shop in Hinckley...see if he can help. Bob used to manage the fabrication shop at Norton. He's also a go to guy for 961 aluminium tank repairs.

Thanks Stu, I did try Norton. A fairly standard response of they are setting things up, have no legal obligation to the previous bikes and will be in contact as and when they can help. I’d like to buy from Norton....but they don’t seem to be focusing on that part of the business just yet. Who knows, huh? I’ll contact Bob, see what his thought are.

Haha yeah, that's all I get. We've had covid excuses, then moving excuses and we're still on the unpacking and setting up excuses.
I've submitted a pretty big parts enquiry, but the one bit I've been chasing for the longest is a price on a replacement service book, since last year!

Yea, while they are working out what to do, you would think they would inventory stock and try and offer something to current owners. They do like to stress that they have no legal obligation etc, but this is a given, they don’t need to preface every communication with this. The thing is, right now, they have almost zero customers...and they ones they do have have, bought bikes that are almost purely as a result of the SG era. They could start building better relations with current owners...the closest they have to new owners, by giving a little substance to their polite, but not of much use, communications. It does make me laugh though....so New Norton have no obligation to old Norton products....but the only products they have sold as new Norton...are old Norton products.

Frankly, it is inexcusable for a company of their size (TVS) to not take spare parts supply MUCH more seriously.

The legal obligation argument is almost irrelevant.

No legal obligation, until you attempt to buy direct from their suppliers....then they're straight there to throw in the legals

Yep, exactly. You can just imagine the discussion in the board room:

'Right, we are trying to build a business here, but have nothing to sell. What are we going to do to keep busy? Marketing at the back raises their hand 'how about we p%ss off current owners?'. Mgmnt 'Excellent idea! How do we do that then?'. Parts ' How about we don't sell any parts, and the minute anyone tries to contact an old supplier to old Norton, we insist they don't either and threaten legal action if they do?' Magmnt 'I like it, double whammy, we won't sell parts and we'll stop anyone who wants to sell parts that were made for the old Norton....even though we don't really want anything to with their services or products. Marketing 'exactly, and if they can't buy parts for their old bikes, they will have to buy our new bikes!' Mgmnt 'Brilliant, I can see you've just graduated in marketing!....hang on, bikes? I thought we made antivirus products?' Marketing 'well, I wasn't sure, but I read somewhere there was a global pandemic on and it is a virus.....and an anti virus thingy sounds like a great opportunity. Can we sell associated T shirts and keyrings as well?'.

Did have a laugh writing that...but seriously Norton, if nothing is forthcoming after so much time...we just have to make this stuff up to keep entertained!

Haha but you missed out the bit where they'll email customers stating they're committed to helping, but have no legal obligation to do so....whilst also not supplying parts and stopping people buying directly.
Hence why I cant go full time at present with 961's. I'd love to, but with very limited generic parts available and the fact Ive never been a business owner and have never had any debts around my neck, I find it all pretty daunting anyhow. Just working out how to register the name with companies house gave me a migraine! Ive been cross referencing and researching parts as best possible. Service items are covered, albeit air filters. Micromesh own the rights to the air filter design, not Norton, and they'll happily make some for me....but there's a minimum order quantity of 250. Im afraid to say right now (we'r doing a seemingly never ending two storey house extension at home), I dont have £5000 going spare to spend on air filters. That would be a tricky one to explain to the missus, when we've not started on the bathroom yet

That was a follow up meeting when they did a power lunch where they discussed 'reaching out' 'thinking outside the box' 'customer engagement', 'synergy', 'taking the customer on a journey' (down the garden path) and finally, coming up with a list of potential fortune 100 management consultants who could quote for coming in and telling them what they already knew. Didn't you get the teams appointment?

When the wife asks 'what's that tile design called' you can say it's 'airfilterbox'. Easy :D

well, I have Megaphones. These don't look like they have ever been run, but I'm investigating baffle solutions before I even think about running them.

I seem to remember 'ringfencing' being a much used political buzz word.. Though sadly now it conjures up the image of some new sordid activity for the next all woke, all inclusive Olympic Games :-(

Great looking pipes. They do look like they are LOUD let us know power and noise

They are loud. I've heard a set. DomiJon demonstrated their aural qualities at the caffeine and machine meet and was promptly sent to the naughty step. I'm investigating baffles...plus I have to see how I can fit them without the race bars!

Great on getting those pipes ! They are very loud open megas ! But beautifully crafted .

I road tested an SS earlier for 18 miles, on open megas.
My ear drums hate me, my neighbours hate me, everyone in a 10 mile radius hate me....and every dog in a 15 mile radius hates me.
Still, was hilarious
