Does the flasher light in the clocks blink?

I changed my indicators to LED's and changed the flasher relay as well. All are working as they should.

Does the idiot light in the rev counter also flash? I swear mine did, even after the change, but now it just illuminates but doesn't blink. I thought at first my relay had packed up but checking my indicators reflections in cars/shop windows they still blink at the usual rate.

Oops, yes both arrows on the indicator warning light in the rev counter flash green when indicating

That's weird, the flasher relay is a simple 2-pin type. The idiot light in the rev counter must have it's own circuitry to detect current draw to indicate bulb failure. I can either leave asis or add a high wattage resistor to draw an artificial load but that seems a waste.

Mine does the same after I replaced the flasher unit , indicators on, dash light doesn't flash not worried about it

PLEASE NOTE: some motorcycles are fitted with Bulb type Indicators, EVEN some modern bikes. Please confirm this as you may need Resistors (available on our menu) to control the flash rate

Yes ours are bulb type, which is why I switched to an 'electronic' flasher relay for the LED indicators, but this relay is still providing low voltage power to the idiot light in it's 'off' cycle so I will probably end up using resistors with either the new relay or the factory relay

I tested the electronic flasher relay that I fitted and it had a small residual voltage inbetween flashes which is enough to keep the dash idiot lamp illuminated (which I presume is also an led). I have now fitted a 10W resistor to each of the rear LED indicators and the dash idiot lamp now correctly 'blinks'. I then replaced the electronic flasher relay with the factory std unit and that also now flashes at the correct rate so I have left that installed as it is more compact.

To summarise... LED front indicators, LED rear indicators + 10W resistor on each, factory flasher unit.... all working fine.

I had the factory fit LED indicators to mine, I haven’t seen any resistors, I think the factory fitted a dedicated flasher unit for the job.

I would imagine with our black and white number plates, we could do without indicators and get away with hand signals only? I am mulling over what to fit, maybe bar end indicators or some smaller led units from rizoma etc. The trouble is, you can spend a small fortune in new grips, bar end indicators, from LED indicators, resistors and maybe new mirrors. I was quite happy with standard spec until you guys started fiddling around. I haven't stopped thinking about manx seat yet. stunning

I seriously thought about taking the indicators off completely.

Two reasons stopped me:

1) you can get some great ones these days that are so small. Actually the factory LED offerings are quite cool, and not to expensive when bought ‘fully fitted’ IMHO.

2) indicators are a legal requirement on post 1983 (I think) bikes and I fear that if removed, one would be left wide open to blame and withheld payouts etc in the event of an accident.

I had a ride the other day and used hand signals and it felt quite 'retro' :)

I'm done fiddling, might raise the clip-ons by an inch but still on the fence with that one. Yep, std spec bike is the bees-knees once exhausts are swapped. I changed my mirrors 'cos I managed to badly scratch the factory ones (glass too soft? :( ). Changed indicators 'cos I managed to fill one of the rear lenses with water (that was just too retro for me :) ).

Heres my solution. Solved a couple of problems. Wasn’t in love with the stock lights and was struggling to mount the number plate and clear the tyre. Getting rid of the stock lights allowed me to mount the plate a lot higher clearing the back tyre without having to mount the plate on a silly angle.

Very bright in ‘real’ life.

Very nice.

I’m very dissapointed in you though....

You post a video of a bike like that without the engine running...!?
