Does anyone live in Hampton Roads VA area

I'm tearing down my engine and I need a slide hammer for removing the contact breaker plate and the rocker spindles. I also need the crankshaft pinion extractor. Does anyone live in Hampton Roads that would be willing to lend me these tools? It would also be great to have an experienced someone to talk to about the project.

I can bring the cases by and use them at your place.

I think you mean the auto advance unit (AAU). A slide hammer isn't always needed. Screwing a 5/16" UNF bolt into the AAU thread and then tapping the head of the bolt with a hammer in different directions a few times usually releases the AAU.

I have used a long bolt and slid a socket along it to act as a slide hammer just to jar it loose. Then do as LAB suggests.

I've got the pinion extractor, but I'm near Warrenton. I would think there would be a tool near you somewhere.
