I wouldn't even consider it. My dishwasher ruined the aluminum parts of my meat grinder - it left a nasty grey film that took hours to polish off.

This covering is Aluminium Phosphate, it comes from the phosphates in the dishwasher detergent. So look out for phosphate free dishwasher detergent or use a no foam phosphate free detergent. Whatever you do do not use Fairy Liquid or other hand washing liquids as your dishwasher will turn into a foaming monster.

You remind me of a well known UK tv advert sometime ago of a Robbie someone taking bike crankcase out of the dishwasher.

Here is a freshly washed combat head. The head was first bead blasted, washed with soapy water multiple times, and then sent through the regular cycle with Cascade action pak detergent pods.

It did darken slightly, but not enough to lose any sleep over.

    Cheers,
    Gatsby

Boiling in a big pan of soapy water works well too. Surprising what oozes out of the pores. Works very well with carbs too.

1993 cleaned my crankcases a treat. Then took a day to clean up the dishwasher. She wasn't happy and we parted company a few years later. No sense of humour !

Should have done it when she (the missus) was out for the whole day. It's OK to do it, but don't get caught!

Even though my boys disconnected many years ago , I still value them immensely , using her dishwasher for bike parts , they would be in danger of coming off ....! Plus she thinks I don’t know how to operate it .....
