I always push the dipstick down on all my vehicles but never seen it outlined exactly on any handbook or manual.I always wondered if the level should be checked with the dipstick pushed down to lock or just resting on the top edge.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would remove the excess oil with a turkey baster until the level is right.I accidentally overfilled my tank to the H mark and I want to remove some oil so it's between L and H. I was hoping someone could tell me how much oil that would be, but apparently not.
Not something I've ever thought about on any vehicle I have ever ownedWhat is the quantity difference between the 2 marks on an oil dipstick? A quart? A pint?
TIA
Those poor turkey basters seem to find many uses!!!!I don't know the answer to your question, but I would remove the excess oil with a turkey baster until the level is right.
Danger - This could start a new oil thread - Which oil tastes the best on a Sunday roast !!Those poor turkey basters seem to find many uses!!!!
I'd shake the oil out before returning it to the draw though !
It wasn't actually oil I was worried about!!!!Danger - This could start a new oil thread - Which oil tastes the best on a Sunday roast !!

If I get the time I'll drain mine to the lower level and top it up to the max and measure the amountI sure wish someone would actually answer my question.
Thank you. I'm very surprised that this data isn't public knowledge. If I get the time I'll drain mine to the lower level and top it up to the max and measure the amount
