Recently traded emails with "William Davis". WD was willing to buy the bike sight-unseen and would send a cheque. My last response shut him up;

WD: why are you finding it hard to believe.I am the one taking the risk here sending you a cheque without receiving the goods yet. I am serious about buying the bike for my son so send your details so cheque will be sent to you okay

BC: Hello William;

It is indeed a risk making financial arrangements over the internet and I think it is in your best interest, as well as mine to the terms stated below:

Cash only on pick up. I will rendezvous with you at the Toronto East Police Station, 101 Coxwell Avenue, Toronto; there is a large parking lot there (not to mention jail cells) where you can try out the bike. If you then agree to purchase, I will accept $10K US dollars, in cash only (Price went up again!! Imagine that!). That is TEN one thousand dollar bills.

If you are in agreement to these terms we can proceed. I imagine you will need to book flights (Pakistan/Toronto return I'm thinking?).

Thanks again for your interest.

Just thinking...
Even with a legitimate transaction, asking the buyer to show up with $xxK in their pocket has risk.
It's pretty standard in my area of the US to have cash in hand for even a test ride for a private sale.
And in the US the seller needs to know what bad paper money looks/feels like.

Yes, be careful out there!

I used to run a used bike export business in Seattle and had no qualms about carrying 5-10k cash with me at all times, since u would often see bikes parked job with for sale signs on them. This was early 90s and pre cell phone and internet. Just me and my biker jacket and ripped 501s and a beat to shot long led pickup with a 2x8 for a ramp.

Well I paid 10 k for my award winning Canadian MK 111 , 2 yrs. back , with a certified cashier's Checque made out to the seller.. No chance of walking about with that much cash. Anyways I was at Scotiabank the other day and we got talking about the purple notes being gone and yes ... the Purple 1 K notes are now officially out of circulation. Brownies will have to do. $ 5 coin coming out soon. :)

Be very wary of Cashiers Checks. I got a bad one at my job once (counterfeit) for $12,000 US. It sat on someones desk at the bank for 3 weeks before they notified us.
We were out the money.
Cash is king.

this July I had my '05 Infinity G35 6mt coupe listed for sale on Kijiji .... got a call from blocked number ( even though my number was not on add ) .... the caller wanted to pay $800 more than asking price he advised all I had to do was forward my bank account # and he would make the deposit for $800 then send a rep. to pay the balance and pick up my car .... I advised him , my Mom ( long deceased ) didn't allow any of us kids to do online banking , but that he could use Western Union to send me the money ..... that was the end of him , still wonder how he got my phone number though ....
