Does anyone have, or know where I can find a list of all the messages that can appear on the LCD panel?

Today I have 'ILL S' which goes off after 10-15seconds but mode button no longer shows miles/trip/clock... only Voltage is displayed :( I don't know why I want to display miles anyway 'cos my reading changes every time I start her up so is pretty useless!!!

PS: Prior to message I hosed (not pressure wash) bike down... maybe you aren't meant to wash the 961, who knows... sigh!

ILL may be the abbreviation for illumination. You can change the intensity of the back lights of the instrument board.
And yes humidity can give this sort of problems, but with my bike these gremlin always disappeared after some time of drying... nothing to really worry about.

You can change illumination of instruments by holding the button while voltage is showing. Strength from 1 to 10.

Thats the code I reported to the factory, ILL, thought it was sick. They said my switch is bad. Its so random and intermittent that I dispute that claim. Had a bad cell in my lead acid battery. Pretty much stopped with the new battery however resets the trip if bike sits to long even on a .75A tender.

Thanks guys, so it is 'ILL 5' and not 'ILLS S' as first thought. I must have a bad switch as it doesn't do anything now. I switch ignition on and LCD says 'UNIT' for as long as ignition is left on, mode button does nothing. I start the bike and 'UNIT' goes away and replaced by 'ILL 5' but again mode button does nothing. After a short while of engine running lcd shows voltage but again the mode switch does nothing, I can't even see ODO or TRIP now, good job I am recording my mileage on paper and camera!

You‘ll see, tomorrow it will work properly again when it’s dried. Then you may set ILL to level 10...

I agree with Raphi. It'll come back as did mine. Hasn't read ILL 5 in two years.

Yep, dash is back and mode button is functioning :)

For those that know... you can skip this bit, but for those unfamiliar I will explain what I've discovered about this mode button....

Press and hold mode button whilst turning ign on, LCD displays 'UNIT', press mode again and 'WARN' is displayed. With 'UNIT displayed you can press/hold mode to switch between 24hr/12hr clock. With 'WARN' displayed you can press/hold to get what I believe is a trip countdown, 000 - 999. This must be where you can set '120' as a fuel range reminder for example. I am guessing that when it clicks to '000' a reminder pops up on the LCD.

Turn ign on, press mode button until you get to ODO, then press/hold mode and LCD displays 'ILL 5', from here you can set lcd backlight illumination level 0 - 10.

Don't know if there are any more functions...

I have given up with jetwashing now for the above reason - had similar issues jetwashing the Jag engine. I use a cycle cleaning product Muc Off and a hose pipe with a big soft brush. I used to think all detergents were modifications of a universal cleaning gloop which was watered down or perfumed for anything between shower gel and drive cleaner until I was impressed by some Muc Off company and product advertising. Currently assessing.
