After my winter refresh I reported that at tickover the right ( when on the bike) exhaust downpipe started to glow cherry red in a dim garage. I have noticed this several time since, so today finally remembered to take my laser thermometer with me on a ride. At any stage during the ride that downpipe was approx 25°c hotter than the left. Is this also connected to the manifold port robbing or is the ignition timing wrong or the camshaft incorrectly ground? If anyone who's blocked the IAC manifold port has a similar thermometer it would be great to compare notes and rule this out.

@cliffa I noticed this when I first got my bike simply by noting the heat staining on the headers was a different colour left to right.

And you're correct, post IAC block the difference was reduced on my bike AT IDLE. I don't know about on the ride. When I get the microfiber cloth off the header (bloody @Stephen_Spencer ) I'll measure them again if you like?

Haha, good luck.
if you don’t mind measuring again it would be great.

So, I finally got around to getting the stuck on microfibre cloth off my header pipe.

After cleaning, I let the bike idle to even out the header pipes.

Measuring the left vs right - the difference is only around 3 to 5 degrees. Again - this is at idle. Most obviously though, the headers are now the same color, which would indicate they are fairly consistent at speed also.

When I got my 750 the header chrome was Black and the pipes were searing hot even at the beginning of the muffler , yes skin was burnt ! , I checked the timing , it was set at 26 deg , I reset it to 31 boyer ignition, and cleaned an reset the pilots , I get a golden colour now. . I have k-type EGTs sensors on a car and they only ever even up full throttle pull, as seen on a dyno .If you buy some of those, felt disc , angle grinder discs, use with autosol your chrome will be back to normal in no time .Cheers
