Hi all,
I don't think I have particularly large hands, but I can never seem to find any gloves which don't cause the end of my thumbs to become painful ( especially on the right hand). I've tried loads with the same result. It seems that the thumb is too short, possibly because of the grip on the throttle, so I'm wondering if anybody knows of a custom quality glove maker?

Cheers,

cliffa.

I was going to recommend Thurlow as I have two pairs of their gloves and used to have a jacket. Custom made for me for not a lot more expensive than off the shelve. Good products. Bad news though is that the rumor going around is that they have closed up shop. Vanson Leathers makes gloves. Might be an issue as I now notice that you're in Switzerland. Maybe Victorinox makes gloves. They'd keep you warm and you could probably rebuild your motorcycle with them.

Closed up about ten years ago ----

I think you’re going to struggle with this Cliffa. BKS used to do them, but now they only sell gloves off the peg, as do Hideout and Scott.

MJK in Holland make fabulous learners (I have an MJK one piece suit) but their web site isn’t in English and my Dutch is kinda none existent...

If you do find someone who does good made to measure gloves Cliffa, please share with us.

I got Held roadrace gloves made from a pencil trace of my hands. They use kangaroo and stingray skin, sewn in a hand curled way with seams out of the way no bunching. Too hot in really hot weather perfect the rest of the time. Excelent protection and hold up for years.

Thanks all.

Edgefinder, I'll take a look at that - many thanks.

just saw this. Some of the Held models, including the "Steve" sizes come in short, medium and long. I have a pair of Steves in the 9 long, they fit my hand like a......ahem......glove and do not irritate the end of my thumbs like most glove do.

Held are over the border at Sontofen, near the German Austrian border, they would be EC approved as well so OK when you have to deal with the French henchmen.

Dedicated quality motorcycle gloves will have a longer thumb to accommodate being wrapped around the grip.

What kind of gloves have you been using?

Hi Swooshdave,
I always try to by the best quality I can but during sales as they can be very expensive over here. Currently I have Reusch Gore-Tex which I really like. they are EU size 10.5 which according to the label in the glove is a U.S. 3XL !!

However the other day I made a discovery which hadn't occurred to me before. My right thumb is 8 - 10 mm longer than my left !! That explains a lot.

Cheers,

cliffa.
