I have a 850 left side (primary chain side) engine crankcase half. It is missing the lip that separates the main bearing from the oil seal. Have others run into this,... is there a fix, or is it possible to run the engine with this section missing?
The MK3 crankcase doesn't have that lip. Is it possible that you have a MK3 half? If so, it should have a groove for a wire circlip that locates the seal.
Ken thanks, good to know the MKIII didn't have this. Gives me more confidence I can live with out it, as long as I can insure the seal stays in place. I can see where mine was broken off, and my case numbers definately show that it is a pre MKIII.
