This guy has been advertising for some time; he is a former Norton dealer. I spoke with him about 18 months ago, but he is under the impression that his "inventory" is made out of gold; his asking price(s) are higher the AN's, he really wants to sell the lot. The items he has are pure Berliner, and a few may be rare enough to be worth his asking prices; I believe that he may have a few sets of engine cases (NOS) and, possibly, other rare bits.
If you need something or want it bad enough he is worth contacting.
Is it the guy who owned Millis Cycles? He was somewhat eccentric. Back in the late '80s, maybe early '90s, he had three MK3 bikes still in the boxes. Said he refused all offers and expressed a desire to have them buried with him; I don't now if he was serious. The guys who painted my tank were supposed to keep the original scheme but didn't. I was able to reach in the box and trace the scheme on one of his, which happened to be the same white with blue and red.
One of the other bikes in the box was an Interstate and the other may have been a Highrider.
No, different person. The advertiser had a dealership in greater Boston, not Millis
Millis Cycle: I had heard the same rumor so I took a ride to Millis Cycle about 4 years back. The building is a duplex, Millis Cycle in one side, a lawn and garden equipment dealer in the other side. Looking through the store front windows I could see the office/show room part of the facility, but I couldn't see any crates; it looked like he left one day, after normal business, and never returned, almost Twilight Zone like. There was a sign hanging on the inside of the main entrance door saying that the business was closed due to illness, it was sun bleached, curled and looked more like a scroll of papyrus, it had been there for years. I went around the back of the building and saw a set of high, small windows. I pulled myself up to look in and saw three crates, it was too dark for me to identify the content, he also had a Greeves that was free standing that looked like it was being serviced/repaired; tools on the bench, frozen in time.
I went to the lawn and garden shop and spoke with the owner/manager, he told me Cliff's last name and that he lived in town. When I got home I was able to find the name on Switchboard and called the number. I got an answering machine and left a message, but never heard back. I called several times over the next two weeks at various times, but just got the answering machine. I gave up and never heard anything about the business or the Nortons, DynoDave may have some insight, possibly someone inside NENO, maybe, even, the guy that has the NOS parts for sale, don't know.
