I thought I'd share this, the original invoice for my Norton purchased from Taylor Matterson in London UK - Oct 1974

Everything was typed of course. I think it was $2.30 ish to the British Pound then and no VAT because it was for export eventually.

And the day I picked it up, everything but the kitchen sink is on that. Its black now undergoing a renovation.

Not only was I gobsmacked at the cost, I finally learned how to spell 'Cissy'. :D

Cost was expensive or cheap? Guess it depends on your age, its all relative I suppose. I think the cost then (UK) was similar to CDN prices because I had bought a new 1973 750 from Firths - east of Toronto for about the same $.

I payed $1,999 aussie $$ for my new 74 850 this included on road cost etc, I was 17 year old and just got my licence and the best part I still own it.

Sorry Jim my brain is not working to well today lol, its paid, might have cooked my brain from last Sunday's ride with the mates it was 38c (our summer has only started) and we clocked up just on 490km or maybe I need to get out on the bike as the temps has now cooled down to a good 26c today.

When I brought my new 74 Commando in 1976 there was two old stock 74s left in my state I could have brought a new 75 model but they were $450 more ($2,450 was a lot of money in them days) and in my mind at the time you were a girl if you had a E start, how things have changed even my 12 year old CRF450X has a E start.
