Can someone please tell me where each of the Coolcat ss3aw wires attach to my wiring harness. The bike is wired for negative ground. Thanks

Thanks, I have that sheet. However, my harness doesn't seem to have the wire colors referenced......no yellow/brown and no brown/black....

What year is your bike, and who wired it negative ground ?
Did they supply a wiring diagram with the new wiring scheme ?

And have you compared your wiring looms colors with the one in the manual.
If someone has used non-standard colors, it may take some figuring out...

Bike is a '74. I wired it using a diagram I found here. The diagram doesn't show the 3aw, though.

You are probably going to mount the unit in your head light shell so the wiring harness won't really come into play. Connect one side of the warning light to ground ( that connection should already exist) the other to the orange wire from the coolcat unit . Black wire from coolcat to ground and the yellow wire will go to one of your alternator leads.

Mmmm, is the maker still around, I'd be on to them and ask what the setup should be.
If they quote wire colors that don't match what is in a stock commando, that is none too helpful.

May we ask if the previous post has actually tried this ?
Wiring to an 'alternator lead' ( pre rectifier ?) could be amusing ??

I have one installed, except it is positive ground. Stock assimilator also taps into one alternator lead. That is where it gets it's signal to turn off the idiot light. Stock can assimilator is nothing more that a wire that when heated by alternator current breaks the power connection to the warning light. I have been using it for almost two years with no problem.

But this unit is apparently marked "AL", "WL" and "E"?

So for the original positive earth/ground harness wiring colours, "AL" [Alternator] connects to the green/yellow, "WL" [Warning Lamp] connects to the white/brown, and "E" [Earth] to red.
