Commando Tank ?

Does look like a Commando tank from underneath, should clear the large diameter backbone and the frame bits near the nose of the seat. ?

So presumeably, thats a Commando Thruxton Racer ? !!

BTW, whats with the slimline featherbed sidevalve ??!

:D Cheers guys , I think I'm going to have to track down a Commando frame and offer it up. The sidevalve is a 16H motor in a Domminator frame . I think it was the plan of my late father to turn it into a sort of poor mans Manx. I'm afraid it will have to go sooner or later to free some funds for mum. Even stranger is a little Velo Valient with what appears to be Commando Fastback bodywork and tank I've no pics of that as yet . I've a bit of a Dilema with the Trident, as a kid I wanted 2 bikes first a Commando 750 in blue with peashooter pipes and a Jota. Well I had that Jota for 20 yrs now but never the Norton . The Trident has sentimental value ......but it might pave the way towards a Commando. As problems go it's a nice on to have.

You might be able to trade the Trident for a Commando.

I'd rip that 16H out and make a Triton.

That would make be a Commando, Triton and Jota in your garage. Not much to complain about there.

Dont go there Swoosh, I'm trying to clear projects not get ideas for more !............................Although you may have a point , Hmmmm

I think Ron's right - there's no room for the head steady. Also there are no provisions for a front mount, though that can be addressed. I assume you'd use a rubber band at the back, like a Norton tank with buttons.

Also no visible front mount stud holes. Probably could be made to fit, but doesn't look purpose made for a Commando.

I'm at a classic bike show in February I'll have to scout around and see what it fit . It would have to be a large Brit due to the age of it which narrows the field. On the other hand it could be a half finished one off which would explain how dad ended up with it ..........He was fond of buying things like that :(

Gus Khun long range maybe?

That might make sense. Gus Kuhn raced Seeleys. How would this tank fit on a Seeley frame? I noticed in one of the pics that there is actually a hook on the top of the tank in front of the filler, so it was designed to be fastened front and rear via Commando-style rubbers (fixing rings) or spring clips.
