Does anybody on the forum know if the offset on the inlet of the Norton blackcaps is the same as the Triumph T160 blackcaps, as I am considering buying some "straight through" black cap style silencers and being a cheapskate would like to be able to fit them on both bikes as and when I feel like an exhaust note change.

Reggie,

I can't give a 'definitive' answer, but aftermarket black-caps have different part numbers for Tridents and Commandos, so my assumption is they're different.
I'd guess it's because of the way they mount - a long 'U' channel with slots on Triumphs, and threaded bosses for Nortons - but it's just a guess, not having a Triumph one to hand.

Probably doesn't answer your question!

Couldn't help noticing the words 'cheapskate' and 'Yorkshire' in the same post... surely not!

They are different internally. The original T160 black caps also had the threaded boss mountings.
Commando/T160 Blackcap offset difference?

I'll have to flip a coin and either get some T160 straight throughs from LP Williams or Norton mk3 straight throughs from RGM and then see if they fit both machines......... although the Norton type are cheaper :D :D

Thanks for the replies.

Andy knows which ones I'll buy

Reggie, the offset is the same for both Norton and Triumph.
Do note that the original Black Cap Silencers, whist externally and dimensionally similar are not interchangeable between Norton and Triumph as the internals are different.

Did you read that I am offering free shipping for any orders placed within the next week ?

The infernal internals . :) ALL RIGHT THEN , which ones are the freeer :o flowing , l4ess restrictive , bigger boogie then . ?

Preumeably the Triple needed less restriction to meet the noise regulations ? so theyre FASTER MUFFLERS . :| :?:

If the offsets are the same I wouldn't worry about the originals having design specific internals for the different engines as you're talking about straight through copies with basicly no sophisticated internals, correct?

I thought they would be, but thanks for the confirmation.
