commando exhaust thread

Anyone know where i can get the exhaust thread replaced with a new insert in the UK ?
Steve Maney is in the U.K. at present so he’d be my first choice.

Seager engineering also have an excellent reputation.

I think there may be some highly capable members of this forum who can also do it…

Hi, I recently had a pair done by SRM, a good price and quick turnaround (3-4 weeks) bronze/ brass inserts ( I did supply a pair of new roses)
A couple of years ago for my wifes MK2a, we tried Seager Engineering but after telling us how good they were their lead time was about 8 months, totally useless as they collect a batch of however many before completing the job.

A victim of their own success. OK for those who can wait, I guess.
I seem to recall Steve Maney would also wait until there was a batch to do. Quite understandable.

David Burton typically turns things around within a week.
He originally had the contract to do the work on Lancashire Constabulary's Commando fleet, where (at the time) he had oversized roses made in bronze, and re-threaded the heads to suit, presumably for a fast turnaround.

I've had work done at seager engineering
It was excellent
He was a one man band I'm not sure if he still is

Further to my previous post about Seager Eng exhaust port repairs which show up on ebay as £510... Thats twice the price that I paid SRM this year......
That’s a lot of dosh. Though there is some consolation in the fact that two nice stainless rose nuts and special wrench are included.

AFAIK Steve Maney charges £139.00 for BOTH sides (plus postage and vat).

Hi Eddie, you pay your money and make your choices, I know which I prefer.
Not sure if Steve Maney is trading much these days but his products are second to none.
