I am starting a full restoration on my true barn-find '71 commando. I am leaning towards a cafe look with norvil seat (with racing plate). I haven't decided on a tank or pipes yet. Does anyone out there have pictures of a commando with SS pipes in a cafe setup.

Thanks in advance. More questions and advice requests to follow.

Dave.

kinda? but still nice to look at!

Although weedy 18 year olds think the weight of the Primary creates imbalance , so the sandwiches breads have R.H. counterweights .

They made sure there were sufficent brakes here , too .

Apart from the fact that the zorsts have switched sides, what is odd about the brakes on that thing is that it has one leading caliper and one trailing caliper. Never noticed that setup before.

Wonder how it steered under brakes ??
Wonder if it made a scrap of difference ?

P.S. Where do you get all these pics from Matt, some I've never seen ?
That really is a marvellous pic, whoever took it.

Vee Haff our mefods . pity about the ones I cant find . Better worry . might get the TRIUMPH scrap books out ! :P

The bleedy brake , was a attempt to get it to steer straight , picks out . Mr willams ( Jnr. Pete ) was uder the impression that ONE Norvil disc tended to Twist the Forks . Brakeing .

Brakeing = said Lad trying to stand the thing on its nose , under brakes and ripples at 120 + mph in the IoM , or when a honda , got in the way .

Some are from my remaining debri . Otherwise theres a good number of Pix accounts ( I think ) on the internet . realiseing the computer is essentially innane ,
you have to ask it all sorts of innane questions. Then you get the odd sensible answer ( Wot Yr looking for ) put in in varing orders / spellinks etc for RESULTS .

Ffs this posting of images here is f$&@& lame.
Twice tried to post pics of SS Pipes (not the "S"
Pipes that others have posted) on my 850 w/ss tank but no joy.
YES I READ HOW TO POST PHOTOS
FUCT

Yes, the OP said SS pipes.

S pipes both go on the left side, SS pipes go on both sides, above the primary and timing case. Hooker made some S type that went on the right side.

My Bike has the SS pipes. I'd heard that the 'S' version in Britain had the pipes on the right while in North America they were on the left. No? n I will post a picture of my bike as soon as i figure out the procedure for this forum. Links?

Norvil seat with stock tank looks ridiculous. Something to think about.

Wow, yeah...that seat-tank-spine zone looks like a sure eye-watering event , just waiting to happen..."Never mind the bollocks" - indeed..

just a small correction , PW only used 1 brakecaliper , Phil Read needed 2 ;but they only had one forkleg with the mountings cast on them at Norton so thats how they solved it
seemed to steer ok
