can someone please direct me to whoever on this forum it is that makes a working engine breather for the evil combat "72 engine, in fact any advice relevant to this engine breather problem would be greatly appreciated thanks , pbu 232
In Combats the further benefit of removing the oil baffle is one can then remove gear box w/o having to tip engine out the way 1st. If reed valve put in that spot but still fouls AMC box then only half the possible advantage in '72s to me.
This might be a good time to say i did 800km (500 miles) at the weekend on my recently recommissioned Commando - incl the Comnoz sump plug reed valve breather. 3 days after and not a drop of oil below the bike, usually there would be a number of spots by now. Nice.
Hi Iain,
Was the bike you put a Comstock breather on a Combat? I ask because Jim's Combat breather is located in quite a different location compared to the other breathers.
Stephen
not really. it is still directly in the crankcase like his sump breather not outside in the timing chest like a stock 850 or timed camshaft breather as on earlier 750's. his sump plug breather or combat breather puts it directly in the crankcase where the source of the pumping originates.

My breather for a Combat case is the same height as the sump plug breather's pickup tube. The sump plug breather pickup tube is about 1 inch forward of the breather hole on the combat case. They both work the same. Jim
