Combat play with hot rods
Got to see if my plain ole Combat with its most special fast feature being nice 5-6 yr old modern street tires - could hang with some serious riders on serious cycles in Ozarks play pen. 5 of em with an Apriila V4 missile leading the pack and Ducati hypermotard thingy at rear as appeared to be the least powerful. They'd come from 3 different states to join up for living it up around here. This level play is in Ms Peel's job description not Trixie's. Trixie got their nod of approval - as old & quaint - but they could not register me desiring to follow them. Anywho had 30 miles of finding out Trixie is just barely able to keep up but she did. Recently tested maxing out on Trixie - no surprises left just imprinted limits of stability I will never hinge into again. So Not a handling test as much as pure power in real life but Trixie took the turns almost as fast as these eager pilots on elite bikes were doing on lumpy areas. On the smooth ones Trix barely hinged so same speed or even faster entering d/t not wanting to be left in the dust as they powered out of apexes and to make up distance they gained in the opens leading to an entry. If there'd been no traffic to hang em up every few miles they would of slowly pulled out of sight. But non the less I think they got a bit depressed when they'd pass a car or two with me hanging far enough back, dozen lengths, not to intrude directly on their closed club... this left me shortest distance and time to zoom the pass before oncoming closed, accelerating as hard &or longer to catch back up in a few seconds. I'd let off at 110 indicated with plenty of pull left - just fear of engine damage on mere joy ride. They'd only pull to maybe 115 as I get right back to my minimum hang back distance before they be leaning for next sweeper and power around it like they did. Wonderful speed and G thrills for an old Norton and older dude. Moral of the tale is if ya don't care about engine wear a plain Combat can confuse moods of strangers.
I needed to get this out my system in idea conditions and did in spades, likely never again as Trixie+me just ain't up to it. What set me up for this meeting was a friend rode by my office so instead of going home I did his legal leisure pace with him till he turned off and I continued on to get a snack. I'd power washed Trixie and she was still clean after like 60 miles. Her Combat engine becomes an elastic oil blower to play this hard but got a glow that'll last a life time.
