I understand that the clutch rod seal helps to stop gear box oil from migrating into the clutch basket and coating the clutch plates. My question is how is the primary case oil stopped from coating the clutch plates? The openings in the main clutch spring are many and large ensuring easy entry of oil into the clutch basket. Is this clutch rod seal of any value?

Yes, as it prevents gear oil getting onto the clutch plates. There is a distinct difference between gear oil and the usual primary drive oil type/grade.

Hi Tom,
Once you eventually convert to primary belt drive the seal will ensure the you have a completely dry clutch.
