Clutch question

I'm in the process of replacing my clutch center with the new hardened version and could install it in either of these two baskets. The one on the left has six holes in it but the one on the right has none. Can anyone tell me if one style is preferred over the other?
The center has been removed from one already and I have taken the snap rings off the other one.
I'm curious to learn if one was an early type.
Thanks

Thanks, I see that now. My bike came with a box of spare bits but most of it is junk. I'll use the one with the holes.

When choosing the correct shims to go behind the basket, is it a matter of using a straight edge to line the drive sprocket with the clutch basket or is there more to it? I would rather not blindly trust the previous assembly although the triplex chain and sprockets look good.

A straight edge should do it.
