still learning my way around my 72/73 commando's nuances..i routed clutch cable to allow smooth bends and oiled well...clutch pull is nice and light..less than my 72 T120 or the 68 A65 or even the 75 XS650...but clutch engagement seems rather on/off...is 'quick' and I have stalled bike a few times...is clutch naturally 'sharp' compared to other britbikes?

thanks

Check the clutch centre, I had the same problem which was the result of a notched centre. The notches weren’t bad but a new centre transformed the clutch take up.

Something worth trying. Make sure your components are flat. Tape a piece of wet/dry sandpaper to a piece of glass. Make marks on the plates with a felt tip and then work them in an orbital motion on the sand paper. It will reveal rapidly whether or not the surfaces are uneven.
