All,

What is a good fitting, quality motorcycle cover that fits a low handle barred 1968 Fastback?

I will be trailering my Fastback to a show in Saint Augustine FL. in May, a 5 hour drive away and I wanted a good, heavy cover to protect it from rain, bugs, rocks, etc. on the trip up.

What are others using and what are your opinions?

Thanks for your responses

ps

Trailering with a cover brings it's OWN set of hazards. Like wind buffeting and paint abrasion. Near impossible to tie it all tight to enough to NOT abrade something.

What a pitty you have to trailer it, I find a bike that is rode to a show is more apealing to my eyes and many others, but if you have to trailer it the only way is in a sealed trailer, if its a open trailer then good luck, you be better off to ride it.

As stated its big no no to cover with anything wind can buffet or will be so sorry. Cycles are made to just wash off after grimy bug splatting rides anyway. Keep loose straps end from flapping too.

Noted, but I was asking for cover recommendations, not thoughts on transporting it to a concours.

Peter,

I had looked for cloth motorcycle covers years ago, but never found any fitted style. You might want to look at cotton fitted sheets for a mattress?

There are some motorcycle covers that are vinyl on the outside but have a soft fabric liner. Would that work?

I had to trailer mine over to the storage unit. I used some moving blankets and shipping stretch wrap. Worked a treat.

Have a lovely cloth cover. Trailering should be enclosed solid trailer. If you must for open then eliminate all flappings. Once we noticed a surge in power driving down Interstate hauling supermusclebike to a showdate. Looked back in mirror to watch trailer with bike ripping through ditch to settle. Police turnaround prohibited to go back n' pick up undamaged reconnection on the ditch. Cloth cover covered in Mud ,no damage at all. :|

I was given a gift certificate for Cycle Gear last year. I got two bike covers that are fitted with elastic at the bottom with straps, water resistant and have soft cloth on the inside. They were relativly cheap & I'm sure they are NOT the highest quality ones around but for my needs they work. Never covered a bike in transit, can't speak on that.

Hire a van or enclosed vehicle.. If your doing an "overnighter" you can also sleep in it... That's if your a tight-arse like me....

Damage caused by riding it or on an open trailer seems to be the same. I have a Kendon single rail trailer that I use when I don't like putting mileage on the Commando riding up Interstates.....boring. Sounds like the same for you. Geze looks good to me for this purpose, but have not bought one yet. They are a bit expensive.

Open trailer with a cover will beat it to death on any loose areas you wont like the results.
Sorry but the best way is no cover or fully enclosed.

- Please Read BEFORE Towing -

All GEZA Pro-Stretch Motorcycle Covers are designed to be towed on an open trailer at recommended legal highway speeds. However, because trailering enclosure, weather conditions and cross winds vary, always use caution, good judgment and common sense and slow down if conditions warrant.
