Some may find the following useful
Clamping the oil lines on a slimline featherbed oil tank can be difficult to achieve, especially if you're concerned about function and looks.
I have ferrules and a swaging tool but it's too big to work on the oil tank so I've been using the "ear" clamps up to now.
The ClampTite tool has been mentioned before on this forum but is too long to use with the oil tank in place. The part where you have to swing it through 180 degrees just won't work - it's too long.

The following youtube videos show making and improvised tool based on the same principle followed by using it to make a clamp with SS wire
I think the result looks effective and aesthetically good!

I have that tool and it indeed works as advertised. Makes a neat looking clamp.
I even used it to repair a 2000psi hydraulic hose on my tractor.

Need to crimp something, but do not have a crimper or proper sized die?

Take two pieces of flat stock or square rod, clamp together, drill a hole in the seam slightly smaller than the part to be crimped, separate, place halves over part to be crimped, and squeeze with a vise or C clamp.

Slick - sorry for the late response but been doing things...
There are some places on Nortons (e.g.: hoses connecting to Dommie oil tanks) where I haven't been able to work out how to use crimping dies (too cramped for crimps?)
So.. I made one of these tools (only 85mm long so works in all places I need) and played with it a bit - the following pics show process/progress
I can recommend it!
Made from 75mm x M6 SS screw and nut, 2 x large diameter washers and a long gal M6 nut (makes it easier for my fumble fingers to use!)
The bent washer at the head simply makes it easier to hold.

Neat, Rob ....

Looks much nicer than worm clamps. I plan to give it a try.
